tennis today was a killer !
coachie was being mean and giving us tough drills
we were scrambling around de courts like headless chickens
sprinting from base all de way to service line
from one end of de court to another
and we had to clear ALL DE BALLS OR START AGAIN !
lucky it was slightly drizzly so it was windy
de scorching sun might made everything worse
so we lived through it but ended with aching calves and sore legs
we were trying so hard to clear de balls we were rambling nonsense
abi was going aurghhhhhh!
and i was like omg im gonna die!
and coachie just kept laughing
hes damn mean
abi hits de ball up and he kills her by volleying softly
so she has to sprint front
i hit de ball hard and he hits it back to me doubly hard but cross court
so i have to sprint from one end of de court to another
but twas good :)
and de last ten minutes or so he left us to practise serves
so he was revising flat serve and topspin serve
abi: whats de difference
coachie: okay look at de two different serves *serves both serves*
abi and me: huh ??
coachie: look at de ball not at me *serves both again*
coachie: get it? *looks at abi first den me*
me: ermmmmm no! hahaha
coachie: listen to de sound..... *serves both again*
so abi has come to de conclusion that de only difference is in de sound
i turn to good ol' google for answers
differences between flat serve and top spin serve
- The preparation for a topspin serve is more sideways. (You are hitting up the back of the ball and not so much into the ball.)
- The contact point for a topspin serve is lower.
- The body is more sideways at contact in a spin serve than in a flat serve.
- The contact point for a flat serve is more in front and slightly to the right, while the contact point for a topspin serve is above, or slightly behind, the head.
- When you serve flat, you momentum takes you more into the court than when you serve with topspin.
- The sound of hitting the ball is different.

we saw coachie standing there and giving us funny looks
