chain of unfortunate events
first cyclone nargis
den de sichuan earthquake
i guess its oly when adversity strikes
dats when one can witness de fragility of life
its precisely this period
where de desire for life is so strong
while we are happily sheltered
never having to undergo any form of hardship
and whine about de smalest setback
bitch about de minutest irritation that we experience
and de smallest obstacle can throw our lives into disarray
so live life fully and at least at de end there is no regret
and i was reading an article about competition local students face
from a secondary school students point of view
she was going on and on about de competition local students face from foreign students
and how its not fair that scholarships would go to them - people who are not rooted to Singapore
and she said its due to them having brains that are more developed cos theyre older
and that they are more motivated and are willing to work hard
i think its really ludicrous
if shes really not satisfied with de fact that they can score
den she can only wisen up and pull up her socks
being as or even more motivated and hardworking den them
theres no use in whining and focusing on de fact that their brains are "more developed"
and who is to say that theyre not rooted to singapore as much as any ordinary singaporean is
brain drain mny dear have yu not heard about thisphenomenon
i guess singaporeans are perhaps too sheltered
and they expect to be sheltered from all sorts of competition and obstacles
and to this girl
even if you can be sheltered from foreign competition in schools
can you guarantee youll be sheltered when you enter de workforce
sure if you work in a closed economy in probably in no mans land
den you can solely be self sufficient facing no competition except by yourself
crazy rant but i feel when things crop up
dont be too quick to point de accusing finger at others
we are giiven opportunities to study overseas
den they should be too
